Wondering if Microdermabrasion is right for you?

How is the procedure done?
There are two different types of procedures. With one, the device releases tiny exfoliating crystals across your skin, while a vacuum device suctions the crystals back into the machine, along with the dead or loosened skin. With the other type of treatment, the practitioner moves a diamond-tip wand gently across your skin to exfoliate it. Each treatment lasts about 30 to 40 minutes. You may feel a mild scratching or "sanding" sensation as the procedure removes the superficial skin cells.
Will microdermabrasion help with hyperpigmentaton?
Yes, in some cases microdermabrasion can help lighten post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or dark acne marks that remain after a pimple has healed.
What improvements could be expected?
Microdermabrasion can improve the tone and texture of your skin. If you have a series of treatments done (which is what is recommended) you should notice your skin tone evening out. You may see a softening of fine lines and superficial wrinkles. Microdermabrasion can also help fight sun damage and make anti-aging creams more effective.
Is microdermabrasion not recommended for anyone?
Microdermabrasion isn't recommended for those with severe or inflammatory acne. Although a series of treatments can help reduce the formation of comedones and improve mild acne. It can also help reduce oiliness and make large pores appear smaller.
How many sessions are required?
For some clients they may find they are happy with the results after one session. Others may find that they see more benefit continuing the treatment over more than one session. This service is client by client and outcomes will vary so it's best to speak to us during your appointment about your options.

Before or After Care

Before Care

It is best to avoid alcohol and any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication prior to treatment as both may contribute to bruising following the procedure.

Refrain from using products that contain salicylic acid (often found in facial cleansers) a few days before the procedure.

Please inform our specialist if you are currently taking or have taken any blood-thinning medication as it may increase bleeding or bruising during and following a microdermabrasion treatment.
